There are a couple of different intermediate guitars that I would recommend for your son. The first of these guitars is the Squier by Fender Classic Vibe Range. This range is based on the classic styled Telecaster and Stratocaster guitars and so are slightly customised (style, fretboard, pickups). The Fender range will give that great classic Fender tone and look that always oozes quality. This range gets great reviews and anyone of the different styles would be great for your son to help him get to the next level of his playing. This guitar is a great guitar for anyone looking to play things that are more towards the heavier side of Rock. This is popular with guitarist and comes highly recommended by many teachers as the Dean gives off such a nice clear tone. It comes with Grover Tuning Heads which are world renowned for keeping the guitar in tune longer as well as having the famous Floyd Rose Special Bridge which allows the player to do extreme pitch shifting on the tremolo arm with the strings still staying in tune. This is a great guitar with some great features on it that I would recommend to anyone.
