For a child I would recommend looking at a classical guitar as they come in 4 different sizes (¼ to full size) meaning your child can learn from a very early age. The size of the guitar would depend on the size of your child, a ¼ size guitar is very small and I would recommend for a 4-7 year old. The half size 7-10 and then the ¾ for 10-13. The classical guitar is a popular choice for parents and schools as it has nylon strings; making it a bit easier on the fingers than the steeled stringed acoustics. This guitar is also lightweight making it ideal to take to and from school or place of lessons.
Below are a few different classical guitars that I would suggest –

A ¼ size guitar that has a great sound and would be perfect to get any young player up and running.

The Valencia range of guitars are very popular guitars that produce a very good tone and feel.

We have a great selection of full size classical guitars but if you are on a budget then I would recommend this Jose Ferrer guitar. This guitar plays and feels so nice and has a fine sound.
