Hi All,
Following another Fraud that has cost the company £1600+ I need everyone to be very very careful when processing telephone card payments.
Firstly, ensure all details are 100% correct and that you enter both the Billing Address and the Delivery Address (where the goods are actually going to). Be very cautious about high value electronic goods that are being delivered to a separate residential address, particularly if it is a long way from the Billing Address. Customers (aka conmen!) hassling for delivery info/times is also an indicator that the purchase is a scam.
Then make sure the order/goods are held pending 'Green Shield' clearance across all checkpoints including The Third Man.
If the value of the transaction is over £500.00 then before the order is released for delivery please check with Gareth, Kerry or me prior to despatch. That way, if something goes wrong and we receive a fraudulent chargeback, our fingerprints are on the transaction too!
Ideally, without risking losing the sale, it is better if customers purchase via the website and go through 3D sercure, that way we are covered if the transaction is fraudulent. There may also be an added benefit for the customer if you sign them up as a Signature Account and they can access a better price by ordering online!
If anyone is unclear about the procedure or has other comments to make regarding fraud prevention, please talk to me or add your comments to this topic for others to see.
Thanks
Andy
