When ordering a new instrument, you may find on arrival that the bridge (the small piece of wood, usually maple, that lifts the strings above the body - pictured) is lying down, often wrapped in protective paper.

This is the only part of 'setting up' that a factory do not do, simply because in transit there's the possibility of the bridge falling down and potentially damaging the instrument.
