Morning All,
We now have the new Kitting module up and running in Opera which has an impact on how the stock is displayed/controlled. I'll try and explain it as clearly as I can but if it doesn't make sense just shout!
Let's use the PSRE343PK as an example, this includes
1 x PSRE343
1 x KXS-A35 BK
1 x SHP-1200H.
Old 'Pack' Method
Liz adjusted the relevant quantity of PSRE343, KXS-A35 BK & SHP-1200H parts out of stock, set a ticket for the warehouse who then bundled the items together. Liz then adjusted the equivalent quantity PSRE343PK into stock and from an Opera/picking perspective they were treated as a single SKU.
New 'Kitting' Method
Using the new Kitting module the stock management/picking is done in a different way.
KIT products can be identified from the Stock Processing from where the Profile: is set to KIT. These SKUs will never actually be in stock so all quantities will (should!) show as 0.
When on a KIT product in Stock Processing, if you select Action>Manage Kit List, a new window will pop up showing the component parts. Therefore, if you want to manually check stock availability you should check levels of the individual SKUs.
When inventory data is sent to the Web/Marketplaces, Ken's logic looks at the component parts and sends up a 'Virtual' Inventory Level, for example:
If component stock levels are as follows:
PSRE343 x 12
KXS-A35 BK x 150
SHP-1200H x 2000
A virtual inventory value of 12 will be sent up for the SKU PSRE343PK. The value sent will obviously always equal the lowest quantity available of the component parts.
SOP Processing
When adding a sales order for a KIT product manually, you only need to select the KIT SKU and the order lines for the rest of the components will be automatically added. It is at this stage you will need to check the stock availability on each order line and if there is an issue notify the customer in the usual way.
If crediting a KIT product however, you must add the individual components one by one (don't use the KIT SKU) as otherwise you will not be able to return the stock items and they will be discarded by Opera.
Picking
When the KIT orders are picked by the warehouse they will be asked to pick the individual component parts line by line. This does mean that if one or more of the components are out of stock the rest of the order will still be picked/packed/shipped, please be aware of this!
Amending KIT SKUs
Please DO NOT change the components of a pack as this is being controlled by the Web team (Nabs/John) and links to Google adverts etc. If you spot something that you think needs changing please raise a ticket for them to review.
I'll stop there as it's a lot of info to take on board, so if after you've digested it you need any further clarification please just ask.
Thanks
Andy
